Prof. Xuerui Yang, Associate Professor and Master’s Supervisor. She holds a doctorate from Xiamen University and is classified as a “Ganpo Talent” at the provincial level in Jiangxi Province (Category D high-level talent). She completed her postdoctoral research through a joint program between Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium Co., Ltd. and Nanchang University.

In terms of teaching, she teaches theoretical and experimental courses in physical chemistry, chemical power sources, and energy storage technologies. She has led one project funded by the Ministry of Education’s Industry-University-Research Collaboration Program; she has guided undergraduate students to win first prizes in provincial competitions; and she has received various honors, including “Outstanding Supervisor of Undergraduate Theses,” “Excellent Class Supervisor for Undergraduates,” an award for excellent teaching quality in “Physical Chemistry,” and the title of “Outstanding Communist Party Member” at the university level.

In terms of research, she was supervised by Professor Yang Yong from the Department of Chemistry at Xiamen University (a National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars) and Professor Li Weishan from the Department of Chemistry at South China Normal University. Her main research focus is on the theoretical and experimental study of the structure and interfacial properties of electrodes/electrolytes (solid-state electrolytes) in battery systems using lithium (sodium/magnesium) as the active material. With both experimental research experience and expertise in theoretical calculations using methods such as Gaussian/VASP, she is able to delve into the mechanisms of failure in materials and batteries. Her research particularly focuses on the key failure mechanisms of high-voltage lithium cobalt oxide/triple-nickel/manganese iron phosphate cathode materials, as well as graphite/silicon carbon/lithium metal anode materials. She also develops strategies for optimizing material structures and electrolytes. To date, she has co-authored more than 40 papers indexed by SCI, including over 20 papers published as the first author or corresponding author in internationally renowned journals such as Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, and Energy Storage Materials. These papers have been cited over 2,000 times, with 7 of them receiving more than 100 citations each. She has also authored 2 highly cited papers and 1 cover paper, with an H-index of 26. In addition, she has been granted or authorized 6 national invention patents, with 3 of them already in effect. She has led a total of 9 research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation.
