Du Xiaolin

 

Born in 1982 in Fengcheng, Jiangxi Province, Du Xiaolin graduated from the China Academy of Art and currently serves as an Associate Professor at the College of Architecture and Art Design, Nanchang University. He is committed to the research on contemporary thematic public art and sculpture creation, serving the national strategies of rural revitalization and community renewal and development. He strives to build a cultural atmosphere rooted in regional characteristics, shape livable spaces, and make public art an important medium for consolidating cultural confidence.

 

He holds several academic and social positions, including Member of the Historical and Cultural Block Protection Group for Old Community Renovation under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Member of the Sculpture Art Committee of Jiangxi Artists Association, and Expert in Urban Physical Examination and Urban Renewal of Jiangxi Province.

 

Major Achievements

 

1. Chief-edited Principles of Interior Design, a national-level planning textbook for institutions of higher education during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.

2. Won the title of "Advanced Individual of the College" in the 2020 "Party Building Double Leadership and Double Integration" Program of Nanchang University.

3. Was awarded the title of "Advanced Individual" in the series of celebration activities for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Nanchang University.

4. Led the creation of the sculptures General Liu Zhen and The Three Liang Generals for the Portraits of One Hundred Battles of Jiangxi-born Founding Generals project, co-sponsored by Jiangxi Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Jiangxi Provincial Party History Research Institute, Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education, and the Political Work Bureau of Jiangxi Military Region.

5. Presided over the key provincial cultural project Series of Cultural Sculptures at Tengwang Pavilion in 2021.

6. Completed the Hongdu Series of Public Art Creation in 2020, which received extensive attention, reports and high praise from many authoritative media outlets such as People's Network, Jiangxi Daily and Jiangxi Morning Post.

7. Directed the public art creation and design of Pipa Lake Park in Yugan County, Jiangxi Province in 2019.

8. Undertake the sculpture creation and design for the comprehensive renovation project of Zhuzi Alley and Dongshuyuan in Nanchang City in 2017.

9. Led the completion of Public Art Design for the Renovation Project of Nanchai North Garden Community on Dinggong Road, Nanchang City in 2016, a national pilot project for old community renovation. This project pioneered the design trend of integrating public art into old community renovation programs. It was selected as the main venue for the 2016 "National Social Governance Comprehensive Improvement Exchange Conference" organized by the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, winning praise from the commission's leaders and coverage by China Central Television (CCTV). As a national successful case of old community renovation, it has received visits and study tours from nearly 100 units at all levels across the country.

 

In terms of guiding students, he has supervised students to win 9 national-level awards (including 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals and 2 bronze medals) and 6 provincial-level awards. He has been honored as Excellent Instructor by the Specialized Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education for 7 times.
